Tower 42, London
At Tower 42 in London, we designed a fully boarded access birdcage scaffold within the atrium to support fit-out activities and targeted cladding repair works. The scheme provided a stable, high-capacity working platform with consistent access across the workface, while respecting the constraints of a live commercial building.
A key design driver was the suspended slab loading capacity. We engineered the birdcage to control and spread base reactions so the imposed loads remained within the slab’s allowable limits, specifically aiming to avoid the need for back-propping and the disruption that comes with it. Our deliverables included clear GA drawings and supporting calculations (TEDDS/SCIA where required) to confirm load paths, stability, and safe erection/striking sequencing.
