St Francis Tower, Ipswich

We delivered a full perimeter access scaffold design for re-cladding works to St Francis Tower, Ipswich, providing safe, continuous façade access on a high-rise residential block. The scheme was engineered to suit the building geometry, site constraints and sequencing, with a focus on compliance, stability and buildability.

Given the scaffold height and loading demands, the design incorporated double uprights and a robust bracing/tie strategy to control global behaviour under imposed loads and wind actions. Load paths and connection detailing were developed to ensure forces were transferred safely into suitable restraint points.

A key constraint on the front elevation was a low-level canopy, requiring the scaffold to be bridged over while maintaining uninterrupted access above. We designed the bridging arrangement to manage spanning actions and localised load effects without compromising the primary scaffold line.

Our deliverables included GA drawings, key details and structural calculations (TEDDS/SCIA as required), covering scaffold loading, stability checks, tie patterns, bridging members and safe erection/alteration sequencing—supporting a safe and efficient re-cladding programme.
