Scaffold Designs for a Live Retail Environment

DH Scaffold Services Ltd was appointed to provide a coordinated suite of scaffold designs at Fenwick Shopping Centre. Our scope included hoist support, a cabin gantry and multiple temporary roof arrangements to support works within an operating retail environment.

The challenge

The project involved several temporary structures with different functions and loading requirements. These needed to be considered as a coordinated package, taking account of their interfaces and the constraints associated with the shopping centre remaining in use.

The design information also needed to communicate how each structure was supported and any sequencing requirements relevant to its stability.

Our design response

DH Scaffold Services Ltd developed designs for the hoist support, cabin gantry and temporary roofs, supported by general arrangement drawings and engineering calculations.

The calculations assessed stability and load paths, while the drawings set out the arrangements and relevant design requirements. Design-related sequencing considerations were addressed to support the planning of the works.

The project demonstrates our experience of coordinating multiple scaffold designs within a live commercial setting, providing clear technical information for structures serving different purposes.
