Access Scaffold and System Temporary Roof

DH Scaffold Services Ltd was appointed to design an access scaffold incorporating a tied system temporary roof at Dolgellau Hospital. The project involved replacing the hospital’s roof following reports of small leaks, with the requirement for the hospital to remain open during the works.

The challenge

The brief combined access for roof replacement with temporary weather protection while the building remained in use. The scaffold and temporary roof therefore needed to be considered alongside the hospital’s requirement to continue operating.

This made the relationship between the roof works and the occupied building an important part of the design brief.

Our design response

DH Scaffold Serviced Ltd developed an access scaffold and tied system temporary roof arrangement to support the planned roof replacement. The access scaffold provided working platforms for the roof works, while the temporary roof was intended to provide weather protection during the replacement process.

The project demonstrates our experience of designing scaffolding and temporary roofs for occupied buildings, where maintenance requirements must be considered alongside the continued use of the premises.
