Access Scaffold and Inspection Platform

DH Scaffold Services Ltd was appointed to design scaffolding at Cefn Mawr Viaduct in Wales, providing access for strengthening works to the piers and an inspection platform beneath the arches.

The challenge

The brief involved two distinct access requirements: enabling the installation of strengthening bolts into the viaduct’s piers and providing a platform for inspection beneath the arches.

The scaffold arrangement needed to accommodate these different working positions around the viaduct’s geometry, with access directed to the areas required for each activity.

Our design response

DH Scaffold Services Ltd developed the scaffold design around the specified strengthening and inspection locations. Access to the piers was designed to support the bolt installation works, while the platform beneath the arches addressed the separate inspection requirement.

The project demonstrates our experience of designing scaffolding for infrastructure works, where access must be tailored to both the structure and the tasks being undertaken.
