02 Academy, Leeds

The façade of the Academy was found to me moving slightly outwards, so we were employed to design a shore scaffold to prevent further movement while the structural engineer detailed new restraints. Due to the amount of water required, which acts as ballast, we deemed it necessary to use short ladder beams to support the IBC tanks and due to the vertical loads use ladder beams as vertical uprights and horizontally as ledgers. We were also given a maximum distance to which the scaffold could extend outwards off the façade to allow buses access up and down the road.
