We were asked by the scaffold contractor to design an access scaffold to enable the existing windows to be changed due to the refurbishment of the store. The scaffold was to be located on a busy street in Sheffield and adjacent to a bus stop. Initially the scaffold was to be set out partially in the road and partially on the pavement but the local council advised that this would reduce the width of the bus stop which in turn would mean the buses would be out in the road reducing the width of the road. So it was decided to build a narrow support scaffold off the pavement with towers in front of the main building columns with the scaffold spanning between these towers and cantilevered out over the bus stop so the scaffold can be taken up the main elevation to replace the windows.
